Women filmmakers call for a constructive debate on the Dolera-Clotet case

The Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media, CIMA, today called for “a constructive debate” and “search for solutions” after the controversy aroused by the non-hiring of actress Aina Clotet in the series directed by Leticia Dolera “Déjate llevar”.

“This situation only has to serve to generate a constructive debate and to look for solutions to avoid the legal lack of protection in which the actresses and the rest of the professionals of the spectacle can be found in moments as important as the pregnancy or the maternity”, indicates CIMA it’s a statement.

Clotet last week accused Dolera of resigning to hire her because of her pregnancy, to which the co-writer of the series Manuel Burque replied that it was tried but it was “impossible”, because of the look of the scenes that had to be shot and the difficulties and resignations which implied an alternative filming plan.

The association of women filmmakers considers it “inadmissible” that this concrete and punctual conflict be used “to attack and discredit those involved.”

“This theme is being used, as so many times by the patriarchal ideology, to belittle feminism in general and to the women of the audiovisual medium who have demonstrated for years (among other things creating CIMA) their commitment to equality and their ability to generate proposals that contribute to achieve it “, the association points out.

CIMA reminds that the space in which this debate belongs is normative and legislative and calls for the complicity of State institutions that ensure equality and the rights of women workers: the Film Institute, the State Secretary of Equality, Institute for Women and parliamentarians of the Culture and Equality Commissions.

“The women of the audiovisual media, like the rest of women in the world of art and culture, have a specific problem that should be studied and solved with measures that guarantee our equality in the concrete conditions of our profession, where there is no labor continuity and where you work with the body, “they remember.

And finally, they offer themselves to these institutions to jointly discuss these measures.
